Wuthering heights

Brontë, Emily (1818-1848)

Edité par Penguin books - 1985

Emily Brontë published “Wuthering Heights” in 1847 under the pseudonym, Ellis Bell. It was her first and only novel, as she died the following year, aged 30. A haunting story of intense and tragic beauty, early reviews found the stark depiction of mental and physical cruelty at odds with the inhibited nature of Victorian times. Nonetheless, no one could deny the enormous power and imagination of the novel and it has since become one of the most highly regarded classics of English literature.
