Ellen Henshaw, a Young Mancunian, finds herself left in the doubtful care of her father, Billy, a talented pianist who has sadly hit the bottle and who is now reduced to accompanying silent films i flea-pit cinémas. Music and sex are all he cares about... When Billy dies, Ellen, now alone in the world, discovers that it's her body that is the musical instrument now - 'with music waiting Inside it, but only for properly trained hands to coax out' - and so she sets about a way to teach men how to create harmonies of love...
